South Texas Milkweed
South Texas Milkweed, 40” x 60,” oil on linen was painted for an exhibition titled “Sacred Wisdom” for the San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum in 2019. This series followed my experiences with the landscape from a distant view where I relax to the overwhelming varieties of layers and movements, to the details of a micro world found only when we slow down to look closely. The Zizote is our native milkweed, small and unassuming but essential for the monarch butterflies that depend on it as a host plant.
