“Plover” is the first painting I completed from my 2025 Summer Residency. Though he should have been long gone by June, this Black Bellied Plover was a constant companion during the week I spent on a spoil island in the Laguna Madre. This painting also represents a new technique I developed using a variety of mediums on watercolor paper including graphite, charcoal, acrylic, cold wax and oils. The result was a luminous painting with surprising depth. This 12” x 36” artwork will be part of my “Coastal” exhibit at the Art Center of Corpus Christi in April 2025.
