“Observing Willet” is a large 40” x 72” painting of a Willet staring into the waves while on the jetties in Rockport, TX. Painted in 2014, this piece represents my early understanding of the relationship between the environment and animals that live there. The waves and rocks and plumage all share similar colors and rhythms. The bird almost disappears into his surroundings and takes a moment to initially find.
